MIAMI (CBSMiami) — Both the state and defense made their closing arguments in the trial of a man accused of rape.

Terrence Jefferson took the stand Wednesday in his own defense. He had just been released from prison when police said he went on a brutal crime spree, starting with an attack against a young woman who testified she was just looking for a ride home on a stormy night.

“I was like, ‘girl you trippin’,” remarked Jefferson, who said he did not try to kidnap and rape the woman at gunpoint in December 2013.

Instead, Jefferson said he’d given the woman $134 for sex, before she started acting wild.

“Don’t do that and she started doing this and talking and people were across the street. And I’m like, ‘man you don’t need to do that. I already told you, I just got out of jail, out of prison, and I’m not supposed to even be outside. So I ain’t even supposed to be out here with you,” Jefferson said.

Recently out of prison, the state refuted the six-time ex-con’s story.

“She has to relive the horror that she faced at the hands of this defendant, when all she wanted was a ride,” said the prosecutor.

Jefferson’s history includes violent crime and drugs. The jury will come back on Thursday for deliberations.
